Pastoral Care

One of the ways Second Presbyterian Church carries out God's mission is to care for one another.

Pastoral Care involves a number of caring activities including:

  • pastoral counseling
  • premarital counseling
  • hospital calling
  • calling on those in long-term care
  • calling on those who are grieving

For those in the hospital, Pastors call on congregants each weekday and "Weekend Caller" volunteers call once on weekends to offer prayer and empathetic listening in their time of need.

Pastoral Care also arranges for elders to take communion to shut-ins three times a year, for deacons and elders to take Easter and Advent Flowers to shut-ins, and for elders and deacons to take the flowers from Sunday morning worship to shut-ins after services.

Pastoral Care coordinates meals that are brought to families that are in times of crisis as well as the delivery of prayer quilts to those needing special prayer.

If you have any questions regarding Pastoral Care or are in need of pastoral care please contact Rev. Roane Deckert ( ) at 309.828.6297 ext. 108.
